their father near to death behind their horses. Sonia and Alfredo
Vega gladly give them shelter and Diego, infuriated by this senseless
cruelty resolves to do what ever he must, to fight the Governor.

and assures her he is no bandit but a champion of their people
and a man of noble birth. Carlotta is excited but skeptical of
his intent until he tells her a story how someday, a noble man
with his eyes and smile may appear and profess undying love.
